Lesson 2 of 6
In Progress

Who is Jesus Christ?

THE IMAGE OF THE INVISIBLE GOD

  • The way back to the family of God and the one who restores us back to a relationship with the Father
  • He came for the sick, he came to seek those who are lost (Luke 4:17-21)
  • Jesus set us free from sin and death “And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.” Romans 8:2
  • He rose from the dead and defeated death once and for all. “Christ died for our sins…He was buried, He was raised on the third day, according to the Scriptures…He appeared to Peter, then to the twelve. After that He appeared to more than five hundred…” 1 Corinthians 15:3-6
  • He Is the Only Way to God”Jesus answered, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me.’” John 14:6

WHY FOLLOW JESUS?

  • John 10:10 –  the enemy came to steal kill and destroy, but he came that we might have life and life abundantly
  • Matthew 11:28-30  “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
  • When Jesus stepped into the earth and invited people to repent, He was bringing a whole new Kingdom. Not like the kingdoms of this world where fear, hatred, greed, worry, judgment, are the main ways people operate. It was an invitation to an inside-out, upside-down Kingdom. Matthew 4:17
  • Jesus didn’t just die in our place, we also died with Him. In doing so, we die to ourselves and we receive His Spirit inside us empowering us to live as He did. Romans 6, Gal 2:20
