The Practice of Experiencing God

Last week I had the joy of sitting with our middle and high school youth group and teaching them about Intimacy and hearing God’s voice. Recounting in detail a moment where The Lord spoke to me so personally and intimately, I felt tears of joyful gratitude come to my eyes and my own heart open to the wonder of how personally Jesus is always willing to meet us.

Our dream for you as a part of the community of Living Waters is to empower you with tools to cultivate Intimacy with God so that “you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled to all the fullness of God.” (Ephesians 3:17-19)

I want to invite you to engage the same prompt that I shared with our youth. My prayer is that it would encourage your heart to dive into the heart of your Father and the Lover of your Soul.

The video below is a practical way to develop and delve into our intimacy with Jesus. Make space in your day for a time of encounter and activating intimacy for your everyday life. My prayer is that this prompt will help prime your heart for how God wants to move and meet you in our corporate time of connection and all the days following.

May you rest in the reality of being His Beloved, and may His steady, pursuing, intentional love fill you to overflowing this week and the days to come.

A Tool for Abiding with Jesus in Daily Life

Get out your music playing device of choice, and play your favorite worship OR love song. Receive the words as a love song from Jesus to you. Let yourself find a quiet alone space to soak in the words and sound of the song and breathe deeply. Ask the Father this question-

“Father, what do you love about me? What do you enjoy about our connection? Is there anything else you want to show me?”

Take time, listen, and notice what you hear, see or feel. Be aware of your 5 senses.  Remember, God’s first language is not English so He may speak to you in pictures, sensations, memories, reminders, thoughts, sounds,  nature etc- His voice is not limited to one expression! Take time at the end to write down what you heard, saw, felt etc….Even better, share with a friend or spouse! When we share outloud, our brain, body and emotions are able to connect physiologically and form a longer lasting memory.

Holding The Door Open – A Father’s Day Message

Within our stories lies the power we need to overcome. Some of us struggle to recognize the overcoming power in our own story, as so many of them still hold loose ends, moments of intense loss, or perhaps unanswered questions. Paul so beautifully reminds us that it is “in our weakness” that Jesus is seen and made strong- and so therefore we can boast in our weakness! It is often our own stories of brokenness and pain that Jesus rides in with overcoming power.
