{"id":53040,"date":"2020-12-07T11:09:56","date_gmt":"2020-12-07T19:09:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/livingwaters.wpmudev.host\/?p=53040"},"modified":"2020-12-07T11:09:56","modified_gmt":"2020-12-07T19:09:56","slug":"are-you-weary-advent-devotional","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lwrv.org\/resources\/are-you-weary-advent-devotional\/","title":{"rendered":"Are you weary?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Advent Reading<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As we enter the Christmas season, do you feel physically or mentally exhausted, strained to the breaking point, or fatigued?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Grief and disappointment have been unwanted visitors to all our lives. Have you been isolated from those you love or endured financial loss? Maybe you\u2019ve lost a home, a job, a business, had to let go of a dream, or seen relationships strained and friendships fractured?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>We can all relate in some way. But instead of feeling guilty for wanting to skip Christmas this year, let\u2019s acknowledge the very real darkness that has settled around us.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Scripture tells us, \u201cwhatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable\u2013if anything is excellent or praiseworthy\u2013think about such things\u2026\u201d (Phil. 4:8). The message being, fix your thoughts on things that LIFT you, instead of that which pulls you down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But the first thing we\u2019re encouraged to fix our thoughts on is vital to note: \u201cWhatever is TRUE.\u201d In times like these, the pathway forward is determined by where our hearts are oriented \u2013 beginning with steps of honesty, transparency, and humility. It\u2019s TRUE that we are struggling with our current reality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Let\u2019s admit it, own it, embrace where we are, and invite God to meet us there.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Advent Activation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Today\u2019s Advent Activation is a challenge to take account of what has wearied you recently.
