{"id":54156,"date":"2021-02-17T21:49:52","date_gmt":"2021-02-18T05:49:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/livingwaters.wpmudev.host\/?p=54156"},"modified":"2021-02-17T21:49:52","modified_gmt":"2021-02-18T05:49:52","slug":"overcoming-jealousy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lwrv.org\/resources\/overcoming-jealousy\/","title":{"rendered":"Overcoming Jealousy"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-spotify wp-block-embed-spotify wp-embed-aspect-21-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Spotify Embed: Joseph and his Father&apos;s Favor - Ryan Rhoden\" style=\"border-radius: 12px\" width=\"100%\" height=\"152\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; fullscreen; picture-in-picture\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/embed\/episode\/3JCqflS26OgtCnzwAdA6Oz?si=rJP77CJaTDO4vuHZb1tJag&utm_source=oembed\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>God is not withholding from you to bless someone else.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oftentimes I think that we really believe if something good is happening for someone else, that God doesn\u2019t have enough for us or that we are forgotten.\u00a0 Instead we should be celebrating the breakthrough, the blessing, the provision that God has poured out over someone\u2019s life, knowing that if He can do it for them, He can do it for me too!\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If we look at the life of Joseph, we see that the jealousy that his brothers had for him brought them to some pretty intense decisions about what they wanted to do to Joseph.\u00a0 Instead of killing him because of the bitterness they had in their hearts toward him, they decided to sell him into slavery and get rid of him forever.\u00a0 They were filled with hatred for this brother because they saw that he was favored over them.\u00a0 They heard of his dreams and saw his special coat given to him from their father \u2013 and they were done.\u00a0 Instead of dealing with their jealousy, they let it build up to the point that they made decisions they probably would have never made without that jealousy.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We can look at this story and learn a lot.\u00a0 Jealousy wants to kill you from the inside out.\u00a0 It will start to build and become the filter in how you see life.\u00a0 It will cause harm to your relationships and have you start creating space between you and others.\u00a0 It is deadly and we need to kill it.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How To Kill Jealousy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Just because someone is receiving a blessing, God is not withholding from you.\u00a0 He has enough for you and He wants to bless your life too!\u00a0 It may not be in the timing you are hoping for or the way you think it should come, but He is constantly on the move and working on your behalf to bless your life.\u00a0 The capacity we have to hold the blessing is sometimes held up by the jealousy we carry.\u00a0 Let\u2019s kill it and make room for those blessings to flow!\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What does killing Jealousy look like?\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1 \u2013 TAKE A LOOK AT YOUR LIFE<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>See if there is any jealousy in you.\u00a0 Psalm 139:23-24 says, <em>\u201cSearch me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ask the Lord to reveal to you any place where you have allowed jealousy to take root.\u00a0When he does this, it is because He loves you that He wants to reveal these things to you so that they can be uprooted .\u00a0This is not to shame you and this is not because He is disappointed in you.\u00a0He is going to show you what it is that you are lacking because He wants to remove the jealousy and fill it with what He has for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2 \u2013 HAND IT OVER\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Call jealousy what it is and release it to the Lord.\u00a0 Ask Him to forgive you for partnering with it.\u00a0 Then make an exchange for His love and His presence in your life. He will make an exchange with you as soon as you hand it over.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whatever it is that you are longing for and want in your life \u2013 God wants to meet you in that place.\u00a0 He wants to be your answer!\u00a0 He wants to fulfill your life.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What is it you are waiting for?\u00a0 A new career, a friend group, a spouse or a baby?\u00a0 What about a promise to be fulfilled that God has spoken to you?\u00a0 Do you know that what He has for you is so much greater than what you want to fill you?\u00a0 He wants to fully satisfy your heart with who He is and His love for you so that when it is time for you to receive the blessing He has for you, it won\u2019t be your answer, it will be an incredible gift that you know your Father gave you.\u00a0 The icing on the cake!\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3<\/strong> <strong>\u2013 LIVE A LIFE OF GRATITUDE\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Be grateful for the things that you do have and that the Lord has given you!\u00a0 <strong>Jealousy can\u2019t live where thankfulness is present.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Joseph\u2019s brothers allowed their jealousy to grow inside them.\u00a0 They allowed the filter of how they saw life to be through this jealousy and it then grew to the point that they wanted to kill their brother.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We may never get to that point \u2013 but the way we think of someone else or how we treat them can be just as bad. \u00a0 It is time that we kill jealousy in our lives and walk with the Lord as He celebrates what is happening in those lives around us \u2013 and in our own life.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>God has so much for you and He is not withholding from you to bless others.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instead, He\u00a0is with you in all that you are facing and He knows your heart and loves you!\u00a0You may not be experiencing\u00a0what you are longing for or waiting on, but what He is doing to get you there is so important. \u00a0When good things happen to other people, when \u201cthey\u201d get something you\u2019ve been hoping for, God is not withholding from you to give to them!
