I stumbled upon this phrase while reading a book on trust that was recommended to me.\u00a0 I\u2019m not sure why it hit me so hard but as I reread these words something that was laying dormant in me began to stir.\u00a0 It felt like a fresh pool of water \u2013\u00a0 on a stifling hot day was waiting for me to experience if I just took a breath and jumped.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let me do a quick rewind,\u00a0 my name is Andy, I\u2019m one of those weird unicorns that grew up in the same church I now get to lead over the course of almost 30 years. \u00a0 I can look back through the lens\u00a0of church and see a lot of my journey with Jesus, my history with Jesus.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trusting Him with my life and trusting my life with the people in this community has marked me in deep and meaningful ways that I am privileged to carry for the rest of my days.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And yet, through all that time\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I STILL struggle to find places of rest and intimacy with this Jesus.\u00a0 I STILL get discouraged about my identity, stuck in comparisons and performance. \u00a0 I STILL get tripped up on fighting for my own plan and results for my life, forsaking my freely giving inheritance from the Father.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I STILL feel pain.\u00a0 I STILL have questions.\u00a0 I STILL STRUGGLE TO TRUST.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maybe you are like me when facing these struggles you feel guilt or shame that you aren\u2019t further along in your maturity or \u201cpast\u201d these cycles.\u00a0 Informed and influenced by those feelings, it can be so easy to start spinning out in our journey as a Jesus follower.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I wonder though,\u00a0 what would happen if in the same moment when those thoughts swirl through my mind and yours \u2013 we also hear the words that Jesus spoke to Paul in 2 Cor. 12:9 \u2013 \u201cMy power works at its best in your weakness\u201d. \u00a0 This is Jesus, in His mysterious way, giving us a glimpse into the Father\u2019s immense love and acceptance \u2013 even when brokenness seems to hang on and cycles repeat.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When we grab ahold of this powerful, upside down truth, deep humility is released in our thoughts.\u00a0 With new mindsets, we can readily celebrate our successes\u00a0 and not become disheartened by our mistakes.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Repentance in our brokenness then becomes an exercise of affection for Jesus and His acceptance of us.\u00a0 We can find ourselves again, drawn into something that is \u201cTOO BIG\u201d for us to understand but fits us perfectly.\u00a0 \u00a0 His unfailing \u2013 unconditional \u2013 otherworldly \u2013 mysterious \u2013 untainted \u2013 LOVE.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we step into this season of Intimacy, Identity and Inheritance (the core attributes of our journey as Fully Alive people at Living Waters) join me in a heart of repentance and humility.\u00a0 You may be a wizened follower of Jesus with years of history or a new apprentice just discovering His ways \u2013 the same opportunity remains for all us.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have been invited to trust Him anew \u2013 we take a deep breath and jump together!\u00a0
