Andy’s Spring Sabbatical

Andy is an incredible leader, and so much of who Living Waters is as a family today is the overflow of his pastoral leadership and service gift that touches so many areas of our church. He has poured into every single one of us personally and corporately. Over the years, Andy has retained a heart of compassion and creativity within a weekly rhythm of church ministry, including Family Pastoring and Youth Pastoring, and operating in an “executive pastor” role that includes building expansion and stewardship over our property.

He has given his voice, influence, and gifts to our community year after year, and so many of us found a connection with Living Waters through the way he sees people, loves people, and serves people. As you’ll hear us say from time to time about key leaders who have formed this church community with us: We wouldn’t be us without him.

Kate and I, Kim, Niesje, and our Living Waters staff and Leadership Council are excited about this opportunity for Andy to take a 3-month Sabbatical this Spring, beginning in February.

It will not be easy for us because of all that Andy is to this church – but we will gladly release him – believing one of the foundational expressions of God’s love is that He is at work – for us and around us – even when we aren’t. After all, “His yoke is easy, and His burden is light.”

Join us this Sunday, January 26th, as we pray over Andy and send him off into his Sabbatical! We hope you can be there!

Holding The Door Open – A Father’s Day Message

Within our stories lies the power we need to overcome. Some of us struggle to recognize the overcoming power in our own story, as so many of them still hold loose ends, moments of intense loss, or perhaps unanswered questions. Paul so beautifully reminds us that it is “in our weakness” that Jesus is seen and made strong- and so therefore we can boast in our weakness! It is often our own stories of brokenness and pain that Jesus rides in with overcoming power.

Rest is Resistance

As we have spent the last couple of months reading “Ruthless Elimination of Hurry” and focusing our Sundays around the theme of not being hurried and busy, like many of you, I have loved the opportunity to CHOOSE to live a slower, more connected and contemplative emotional, physical and spiritual life.
