We are diving into the topic of inheritance in our series on Being and Becoming like Jesus. We have been exploring three themes: intimacy, identity, and inheritance. Intimacy is about kneeling at the feet of the King, worshiping and adoring Him. Identity is about receiving the life and truth spoken over us by the King, and embracing our roles as sons and daughters. And now, we come to inheritance, where we receive all that God has for us and move out into the world.
As followers of Jesus, our inheritance is not about money or possessions, but it is about the Holy Spirit, the spirit of the living God, coming and resting powerfully in and moving through our lives. It is about accessing all that God has for us and overflowing to the world around us.
When we talk about inheritance, we must first understand grace. Grace is God’s undeserved favor and supernatural power that rests upon us. It is not just about being forgiven, but it empowers us to live fully alive in Christ.
As we explore our inheritance, we must not shrink from what God has given us. It is time to occupy the promises He has for us. This means stepping out in audacious faith, believing that we are worthy and able to access our inheritance and exercise our authority in Christ. We must not settle for a smaller version of God’s promises, but instead, walk in love, compassion, victory, and power, bringing heaven to earth in unmistakable and inexplicable ways.
