In this teaching, we explored what it means to be Kingdom People. As a Spirit-filled community, we are empowered and commissioned to represent God to the world.
From Babel to Pentecost, we see a God who redeems division. Where language once separated humanity, the Spirit now unites us. At Sinai, Israel was invited to be “a kingdom of priests and a holy nation” (Exodus 19:6). At Pentecost, the Church receives the same calling to declare God’s glory among every tribe, tongue, and nation (1 Peter 2:9).
We turned our attention to what that Kingdom calling means for all people. Sons and daughters, men and women are equally empowered by the Spirit of God. The outpouring at Pentecost was not partial. It was complete. The Spirit was poured out on all flesh (Acts 2:17).
At Living Waters, we believe that Scripture clearly and coherently teaches equality between men and women in God’s Kingdom, church, family and in marriage. We were created together in His image, redeemed together through Christ, and commissioned together by the Spirit.
Women are not secondary in God’s story. From Eve to Esther, from Mary Magdalene to Junia, the New Testament and the early Church reveal women as leaders, prophets, apostles, and witnesses of the resurrection. The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead has been poured out on all of us to proclaim good news, to lead with boldness, and to reflect His image side by side.
Reflections to Meditate On
- Where have I believed or agreed with lies that limit God’s calling on my life or others’?
- How might I encourage and empower the gifts of those around me especially where the Church has been silent or restrictive?
- Ask the Holy Spirit to restore a vision of partnership and unity in His Kingdom, men and women leading side by side, reflecting His image.
