This week, as part of our Practice of Witness, we heard two stories connected by one simple word: yes.
Janice shared how, after the end of a 36-year marriage, she found herself facing an uncertain future. In the middle of loss, transition, and rebuilding, she prayed a simple prayer: “I cannot have a future that I build myself. I must trust that You are going to do this for me.” What followed was a journey she never could have planned.
That journey eventually led her to Romania, where she spent her days holding babies, praying over children, and serving alongside Firm Foundations Romania. What began as heartbreak became an unexpected invitation into God’s purposes.
We also heard from Sarah Vienna, who shared the story behind Firm Foundations Romania. Sarah’s ministry began with what was initially a reluctant yes. She didn’t want to go to Romania. In fact, she actively tried to avoid it. But through a series of small acts of obedience, God led her to a place where she would spend more than twenty years serving children, families, and the Roma community. Today, Firm Foundations serves hundreds of children through education, discipleship, and practical care while continuing to bring hope to some of Romania’s most vulnerable communities.
Both stories remind us that God rarely asks us to have the entire plan figured out.
Often, He simply asks for our next yes.
Maybe your yes isn’t moving across the world. Maybe it’s forgiving someone. Maybe it’s serving. Maybe it’s taking a step of faith you’ve been avoiding. Maybe it’s saying yes to Jesus for the first time.
The invitation this week is simple:
What yes is Jesus placing in front of you?
You don’t need the whole roadmap. You don’t need all the resources. You don’t need certainty about the outcome. You simply need the courage to say yes and trust that God knows where He is leading.
