The Story of Jesus in our Everyday Life

As we step into the season after Easter, we’re excited to keep walking in the Way, the Truth and the Life of Jesus together. Earlier this year we laid a strong foundation through our Way of Formation series exploring spiritual formation, meeting Him in pain and suffering, healing from sin through confession, crafting a Rule of Life, and the beauty of life together.

Now we’re moving into the heart of it: actually practicing the way of Jesus as a community, one focused practice each month beginning with Sabbath in April, then Prayer in May, and continuing through the rest of the year.

One practice we’re carrying throughout the entire year though, and intentionally building into our Sunday gatherings, is the practice of “Witness”.

In the context of Practicing the Way, “witness” simply means TELLING THE STORY of what Jesus has done, is doing, or is faithfully walking with us through in our everyday lives.

We’ll practice this together by regularly hearing from someone in our own community each Sunday morning. A short, honest story of where Jesus is meeting them, how He’s forming them, or how they’re learning to trust Him even when things feel unfinished or hard. Hearing one another’s stories does something powerful: it builds real connection, increases empathy and hope, reminds us we’re not alone, and helps us see God’s faithfulness in fresh ways.

If we’re truly doing “life together,” it goes beyond us just being in the same room on Sunday mornings. It requires cracking our lives open a bit and sharing both the beautiful parts and the honest, still-in-process parts. Telling and listening to stories takes time, which is why we’re intentionally creating more space for it in our gatherings this year. We believe this will help us grow in intimacy with God, deepen our identity in Christ, and live more fully into our inheritance as a resilient, loving community that looks and lives like Jesus.
