Trevor & Kate Bruce – Learning to Hear Each Other

Trevor and Kate shared honestly about a season when pain, stress, and difficult conversations put pressure on their marriage. They loved each other, but that didn’t mean they knew how to move through conflict in a way that left both of them feeling heard. Repeated attempts to communicate could end in frustration, withdrawal, or more hurt. They needed help finding a different way forward.

Through MarriageTeam coaching, they learned practical ways to slow down, listen, and work through a conversation without leaving one person behind. Kate described the value of a structure that helped them return to the conversation and make room for each other’s perspective. Trevor shared how he had begun seeing his wife through a filter of frustrations, and how remembering what he loved and appreciated about her helped him move toward hope again.

Their story offers encouragement for anyone who feels stuck in a familiar pattern. Receiving help doesn’t require a perfect marriage, and growth doesn’t mean there will never be another difficult conversation. Trevor and Kate pointed us toward the hope we have in Jesus and the courage to keep tending the relationship we’ve been given. They now help other couples through the same coaching process that helped them.
