A Fond Farewell

It is with joy and quite a bit of sadness that we say goodbye to our dear friends Matt & Rachel, Asher and Josie Southmayd. Part of the reality of community is that people we love come, and people we love go. And while we can’t acknowledge every coming and going with a post, some are so deeply entwined into the life of this church that we must highlight them. Matt grew up a part of Living Waters, married Rachel, and then grew their family here! Matt, Rachel, and their kids have been a massive part of who and what Living Waters is.

In this next season of life, they are moving to Yuma, Arizona, for Matt’s work. Although our hearts are heavy to lose such a foundational family and dear friends to me, Kate, and so many others – we are excited and hopeful for what is in store for them as God leads them on a new adventure.

Matt, Rachel, Asher, and Josie: We love each of you and are thankful for our years together! May Jesus guide you into all He has for you and more! So long, for now. Our hearts and prayers are with you!

Within our stories lies the power we need to overcome. Some of us struggle to recognize the overcoming power in our own story, as so many of them still hold loose ends, moments of intense loss, or perhaps unanswered questions. Paul so beautifully reminds us that it is “in our weakness” that Jesus is seen and made strong- and so therefore we can boast in our weakness! It is often our own stories of brokenness and pain that Jesus rides in with overcoming power.
