Co-Creating with God
“In the beginning God created….” -Genesis 1:1
“And he made man in his image…” -Genesis 1:27
Every spring as flowers bloom and life starts to show itself in marvelous ways, I find myself in awe of God’s artistry. This year especially I’ve noticed myself stopping in my tracks to take it all in—how the grass blows in the wind or the intricacies of each flower and bloom. It’s overwhelming beautiful.
God is an incredible artist, and with each season we see him paint something new across the earth. From the very beginning of time, he has never for a second stopped creating. And you know what? I think he enjoys it!!
With that said, I was recently reminded of how we are made in the image of God. God the artist. God who loves to create, make, and transform. Being made in His image means He also made us to be creative creators. And not in a sense of “you have to create!”, but more in that he has placed creativity within you whether you know it yet or not.
Kids are perfect examples of how creativity shows itself in so many ways, especially when it comes to play. They can create entire worlds!! Their imagination knows no end.
When was the last time you played with God? Or opened yourself up to dreaming and then put action steps towards making that dream happen?
This week I invite you to join me in co-creating with God. Invite God into your work environment— He has ideas and strategies for how to get the job done. Invite him into the kitchen as you make dinner— He knows the best flavor combinations. Pick up that paint brush or journal you’ve been neglecting— He’s put beauty inside you that is longing to be expressed. No matter what you end up doing, just make space for God to be in the process and see what is birthed out of creating with Him.
