Emotionally Healthy Spirituality is about paying attention to why we do what we do. It is about attuning to our emotion (or lack of emotion), and allowing God to meet us at the source of those emotions, or unblock the flow of them. You may not have that problem – you may be the opposite. Too aware of my emotions, too aware of the hurts in your past,  too aware…etc. and you don’t want to live like this forever, but NUMBING isn’t a safe or healthy option.

When we sense big emotions, or feel out of control, depression is often a result. We will either repress/depress, numb, distract or shut down/breakdown. We would like to offer healthier options.

When we feel big emotions or out of control, simply naming what we are feeling is an important step. (The Feeling Wheel IS A GOOD TOOL).

While I cannot encourage you to stop feeling, I will encourage you to have safe places and people to “let it flow”. Create a place in your physical life and Spiritual world to grieve, agonize, vent…and visit them often as needed, but leave it there. P

Our stuff is not going anywhere. You will hear us say this phrase often “you are not in a race” and “your mess does not disqualify you”. You may see a closet full of stuff, but you don’t have to pull it all out and live in it. Open the door when Jesus is with you, and only take out what He asks you to take out.
