1. The emotion of guilt, especially associated with my relationship with God, is a powerful indicator that something is off.

Guilt should not be present or a motivating factor in my walk with Jesus, otherwise I will internalize it into other areas of my life and out onto others in the form of judgment. (If I am striving so hard to measure up to this impossible standard, they need to measure up to it as well)

2. Be WITH rather than doing FOR (God, acceptance, performance).

Speaking of what we who have been raised in Christianity might call “discipleship behaviors”…we may recognize that we are doing the right thing for the wrong reason, and it is easy to remove the thing instead of reforming the wrong reason.

Tool 1 – would be contemplative spiritually, meditating on the word rather than reading it, and writing/creating in response.  Ex. – MAKE A TWEAK. Stop reading the Bible, but don’t stop meditating and
praying on Scripture.

Tool 2 –  would be proactively giving away encouragement to someone Jesus brings to your heart. Do something tangible to express and reinforce the shifts happening inside you.
