Anthony McGarity – Finding God in the Ordinary

What does following Jesus look like when your assignment changes and life feels ordinary?

Anthony McGarity shares his journey from serving as a missionary in Brazil’s Amazon region to working with young people in foster care at Hearts with a Mission in Medford. In a season without the same clearly defined ministry role, he began asking Jesus to help him love the young people in front of him and see beyond their outward behavior.

Then one young person described what had meant the most: Anthony took an interest in his life and remembered the things that mattered to him. That simple response helped Anthony recognize God at work through everyday attention and care.

His invitation to us is to slow down and see the people around us as God’s image bearers. The love of Jesus can become visible through remembering, listening, and faithfully showing up.
