The Joy of Surrender
Hi Church,
I’ve been thinking about the joy of surrender lately. It’s a paradoxical phrase because in a world full of unknowns it’s natural to want to grasp for control. I long to control things at work and at home, and to make sure all the people I love are safe. But I’ve been reminded that there’s no joy in making something happen when God is longing to do it instead.
This week, I invite you to join me in the upside down Kingdom of God. When you find yourself grasping and holding on tightly to something, take a step back. Like Psalm 46:10 says, “be still and know that I am God”. Let’s give God his rightful place and allow Him to breathe on situations and circumstances that we ultimately need Him to intervene in.
Surrender isn’t passive, rather it’s positioning your heart to trust. So as you go about your days, exchange trying for trusting. Be still and know. He cares much more than we ever could. So surrender and watch God do something that you never could do on your own. He loves to show up for His kids—we just have to make room.
