Wake Up, Oh Sleeper!
Hey Living Waters!
Kate and I continue to pray for you daily! Obviously, 2020 will be a year that marks us all deeply. Let me encourage you to remember that what God is doing (and I promise you, there is so much He is doing), will bring good out of struggle, and victory where harm was intended. He is always weaving and working, but the external manifestation of His good is often preceded by an internal battle for Lordship!
As followers of Christ, we understand that we are contending to extend Christ’s total victory over evil to the ends of the earth.
To do that, we have the mind of Christ, which allows us to see with wisdom and perspective that is not based in this REALM, but the REALITY of heaven.
When we engage in this battle, we do not fight with man’s weapons but spiritual weaponry to pull down all remaining holdouts of evil.
What is taking place is exposing the work of darkness in our nation, but it is also exposing the conviction and condition of our faith. It is revealing places that we have called fear wisdom, worry discernment, and anger righteous.
Yes, let us cry out for the exposure of the evil lurking within our leaders, world systems, and behind the headlines! As I said on a recent Sunday, evil is not increasing; it’s being exposed. That’s the unmasking that’s needed!
But, let us ask Holy Spirit to start with us.
“God, expose the evil that wants to destroy lives. Expose lies that cloud people’s minds, fear that infects their decisions, and anger that leads to violence in our world. But, begin with my heart, my mind, and my life.”
The purification that this world needs will be led by the sons and daughters of God and flow outward from us.
We often pray for revival, imagining a time that the culture around us will be filled with conviction and repent. But, how can we expect that to take place around us if we aren’t allowing it to first take place within us?
“Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them…[because] everything exposed by the light becomes visible, for everything that is illuminated becomes a light itself. So it is said: ‘Wake up, O sleeper, rise up from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.’” (Eph. 5)
