When Prayer Enlarges Our Heart

Dear Financial Prayer Team,

As Ryan mentioned in his church wide text this week, August is a very busy month! Along with final vacations, kids are getting back in to the swing of school this week and next and families are adjusting to new schedules.

In the midst of that, please keep praying for the generous consistency of financial provision for our house.

Last week our women gathered for a powerful prayer night and we were delighted by the engagement we experienced with Holy Spirit. The room was full of prayer stations and some were able to go to a station that stirred their hearts, but in an effort to get full coverage of our topics, some ended up at a station they may not have been naturally drawn to. But we truly opened our hearts! As Mother Teresa says, “Prayer enlarges the heart until it is capable of containing God’s gift of himself.” The women were moved, not just by finding interest in the topics, but by God himself.

Here are a few topics we are holding as a leadership council, and we would love to partner with you in seeking the way God himself would lead us to pray.

  • Final permits for beginning the renovation in the other half of our building.
  • Donations specified for the building project from our donors.
  • Increase for Central Food Truck (tables ready, outhouses ready, more trucks, favor in the community, participation for the building of relationships)
  • Further connection with our family through Abide, Community Life Sundays, LW University and extension ministries (women’s gatherings, men’s get together, youth, young adults)

These are all tangible expressions of the mission of Living Waters. They are opportunities to be together as a family, and to share this mission and these stories with others. We share our faith in a similar way kids learn to share toys. I will let you borrow my faith for a thing I feel passionate and excited about. You share your faith with me in an area where I struggle. This is a mutual increase!

“I pray you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ. Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the saints.”

Philemon 1:6-7

Each one of you is a refreshment to one another and the staff, bringing joy and encouragement as we are united in prayer. We would love another chance to physically be together and share these gifts in person! We will get a little more settled, and then plan another night to come together as a team in prayer.

With great gratitude!!

Sommer

Within our stories lies the power we need to overcome. Some of us struggle to recognize the overcoming power in our own story, as so many of them still hold loose ends, moments of intense loss, or perhaps unanswered questions. Paul so beautifully reminds us that it is “in our weakness” that Jesus is seen and made strong- and so therefore we can boast in our weakness! It is often our own stories of brokenness and pain that Jesus rides in with overcoming power.
