Where We Are Going
What a joy to walk into church and have the new interior window showing the expansion project!
We’ve been talking about it, we’ve been working toward it, we’ve been praying for it, but to SEE it and feel like it is becoming a part of our Sunday morning was really amazing.
The vision before us is like that of a revelation. It’s a powerful revealing of what is to come. Popping out a window for us is a prophetic act and invitation, “This is where we are going! Come and participate!”
Proverbs 29:18 says, “Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but blessed is he who keeps the law.”
Restraint is directed prayer. It’s dedication. It’s faithfulness. It’s meeting on the temple steps just like Anna and Simeon and staying focused on where God is moving. Casting off restraint is what causes us to get distracted. It’s taking too long. We don’t see the evidence the way we thought so we switch directions to a new initiative or something that seems more attainable in the short term.
But blessed is he who keeps the law, or the word, or the revelation of God. The ones who stick to the path where God pointed them will experience a totally different kind of celebration when the next window is opened and the next phase revealed.
The Message version says it like this “If people can’t see what God is doing, they stumble all over themselves; but when they attend to what he reveals, they are most blessed.”
This week let’s stay focused on our faithful prayer path and also ask ourselves how God is asking us to participate in this revelation.
- Keep praying for consistent and faithful giving among our church family.
- Pray for buy in with finances AND physical labor contributions. The work nights that are starting to happen are specific ways for people to join in the fruition of this revelation. Beyond the practical needs of prepping the building for contractor work to begin (which is a HUGE practical need!), there is potential here for relationships to grow, people new to our community to feel connected, long time LW members to be able to contribute in a way they haven’t been able to up to now, and the deepening and widening of our family. Work projects do that in a way few other things can! We need people to consistently show up for these work nights in the next several weeks.
- Ryan has introduced the book Praying Like Monks, Living Like Fools on Sunday and in mid week emails. Pray for people to take the initiative to get this book and really begin to read it. There is so much potential for our family to be united in this prayer movement coming into the next year. We want everyone to be able to participate and join in!
Thank you all for your eyes on the revelation of the Word, thank you for your focused and committed prayers, thank you for partnering with us in every step.
In Him,
Sommer
