Who is in Your Boat?

Justeen, Kim, and I had the pleasure of leading our Ladies on a retreat to Bandon at the end of May, and it was a beautiful time filled with connection as the Holy Spirit ministered and led our time so beautifully. One of the things that this model for a retreat affords us is the opportunity for ladies to get their own houses and “bunk up” together. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that Jesus had a hand in how these houses came together—as the right people were together at the perfect moments, time and time again, throughout the weekend. Whether it was someone new to our community or those who have been a part of it for years, we are in awe of His faithfulness in providing the right house for each person to be seen and loved. The testimonies of “old” relationships rekindled and new relationships that have begun are some of the most joyful takeaways from the weekend.

One of our “themes” centered around the book (and movie) “Boys in the Boat,” as we asked each other, “Who is in our boat, and where are we rowing together?” Beyond the joy of cuddling up in our Airbnbs and watching “Boy in the Boat” the first night, Jesus used this story to encourage and inspire our hearts and minds! The stories are still coming from women whose lives were so impacted by the Holy Spirit as we invited Him to speak to our hearts, encourage us with hope, laughter, and joy, and challenge us to pull toward Jesus together.

Doing retreats this way also afforded us lots of time to let people head into Bandon and shop around, hit the “beach,” or find a cozy place to relax and dig deeper into what the Lord is speaking to them individually. We couldn’t have asked for a better weekend, and although the weather wasn’t the greatest, we were undeterred as we watched God move on our group!

We are celebrating Jesus for all He did and are already looking forward to the next opportunity to go on our next retreat! Watch for updates, and sign up early—you won’t want to miss it!

Holding The Door Open – A Father’s Day Message

Within our stories lies the power we need to overcome. Some of us struggle to recognize the overcoming power in our own story, as so many of them still hold loose ends, moments of intense loss, or perhaps unanswered questions. Paul so beautifully reminds us that it is “in our weakness” that Jesus is seen and made strong- and so therefore we can boast in our weakness! It is often our own stories of brokenness and pain that Jesus rides in with overcoming power.
