Wild and Free Hearts – Summer Kids Day Camp

I knew it was all worth it when I walked into the 360 room (that had been cleared of chairs) to transition the kids to the next camp activity, to find a large group of kids running, laughing, and dancing to the blaring music. It stopped me in my tracks. What I saw was beautiful and FUN! The carefree joy and delight that they were having was tangible!

With all that has taken place in our world this past season, the heaviness, the questions, the pain, the scene before me spoke to my heart. These kids have been affected by some of these feelings, but give them an open space, a few friends to be surrounded by, and maybe an oreo (or three) and you will have wild and free hearts in your midst!

The hours and days we had as a camp were jammed packed with activities to make us laugh, and to make us think. We saw these kids dance, and we saw them sit quietly in response to Jesus. I am so proud of who these kids are in our families and in our community. It will be an honor to continue to come along side them as their minds, hearts, spirits and bodies grow!

I want to thank the INCREDIBLE team who came along side me. This camp would not have been possible without them! Rachel Southmayd, Kate Bruce, Kadance Connelly, Justeen Brown, Asher Southmayd, Livi Berryessa, Austin Rhoden, Evan Rhoden, Kellen Rhoden, Violet Southmayd, Lysha Doss, Kaylene Brown, Kristin Eaton, Gabriel Ramirez, Bailey Rand, Lainie Berryessa, Zoey Doss, Morgan Martinez, Judy Durkee, Howard Durkee, Shiloh Manzouranis, John Ivey, and Kim Butcher! They were the dream team!

Holding The Door Open – A Father’s Day Message

Within our stories lies the power we need to overcome. Some of us struggle to recognize the overcoming power in our own story, as so many of them still hold loose ends, moments of intense loss, or perhaps unanswered questions. Paul so beautifully reminds us that it is “in our weakness” that Jesus is seen and made strong- and so therefore we can boast in our weakness! It is often our own stories of brokenness and pain that Jesus rides in with overcoming power.
