Ya’ll! Are you kidding me right now???

I have GREAT news!!

Since finances at LW have been incredibly tight for a long time, we applied for the Employee Retention Tax Credit a while back. As you know, Oregon was one of the first states to “lockdown” and the last to “unlock,” and because we were able to retain all of our full-time employees throughout, we hoped we’d qualify for some credit. However, when we applied, we weren’t sure what that money amount would be if we did qualify or when we would even find out. We had hoped it would come this year because our giving has consistently been below our budget needs – but when we did apply, the IRS told us it could be 9-12 months before they ruled on our application, which moved us from hopeful for some financial help soon, to almost putting it out of our minds as a possibility.

In the meantime, we focused on what we felt God was leading us to do: Pray together over these needs as a community! We have loved having you along with us on that endeavor. We felt the lift and the relief that comes when His people contend in prayer. It was palpable for us as we kept asking, seeking, and knocking for direction and wisdom.

Well…when Kim went to the Post Office this week for our regular pick-up, five checks were waiting for us. We never heard a peep on our application, but apparently, it was approved, and we RECEIVED $135,000.00!

Ya’ll! Are you kidding me right now??? So amazing.

We can’t wait to share and celebrate with the church over this, but we wanted you to know first because we believe there is a direct line between your prayers and this miraculously timed provision!

Keep praying with us! God is teaching us to steward His Kingdom and our Community through prayer, and I don’t want to stop now!

“Give, and it will be given to you: A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over…” Luke 6:38

Within our stories lies the power we need to overcome. Some of us struggle to recognize the overcoming power in our own story, as so many of them still hold loose ends, moments of intense loss, or perhaps unanswered questions. Paul so beautifully reminds us that it is “in our weakness” that Jesus is seen and made strong- and so therefore we can boast in our weakness! It is often our own stories of brokenness and pain that Jesus rides in with overcoming power.

Why You Won’t Hear Us Use The Word “Tithe”

Tithing is Biblical in the Old Covenant. It was the basis of a Monotheistic society and existed in place of a taxation system. What is not Biblical is to take the Old Covenant culture, context, and Law and teach it in a New Covenant reality, placing believers under pressure, expectation, or obligation to give at least 10% of their income to the church to “be Godly,” “pleasing to God,” or to “righteous.
