A God Who Delights In Your Dreams

After moving away from the community she loved, Mary Southmayd found herself asking God, “Do I even have any dreams?” Through an unexpected conversation at the local pool, God awakened a dream that seemed impossible—to swim across the Columbia River—even though she didn’t know how to swim and carried a lifelong fear of the water. Over the next few years, Mary faithfully learned to swim, overcame setbacks, and eventually crossed the Columbia three different times.

More than accomplishing a goal, Mary discovered the heart of a good Father. She shared that God hears every cry of our hearts—even the quiet ones—and delights in leading His children into the dreams He places within them. Her story is a beautiful reminder that God is always present, faithfully guiding us beyond our fears and into a deeper trust in His goodness.
